Frequently asked questions about Beumont Farm
Are the cabins self-catering?
Yes, all cabins are fully self-catering. There is no restaurant on-site, and the nearest shops are in Dullstroom (about 35 minutes away). Please bring all your groceries with you — we recommend stocking up before arrival to ensure a relaxed and uninterrupted stay.
What should we bring?
• All food and drinks for your stay
• Extra wood and firelighters (hot tub uses around 3 bags per heating)
• Charcoal if preferred for braai
• Bottled water if you prefer not to drink natural spring water
• Warm clothing — Dullstroom weather is cool year-round
What do you supply for our stay?
• Fresh bedding and towels
• Fully equipped kitchenette (gas hob/oven, fridge-freezer, kettle, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery)
• Braai utensils, outdoor braai area, and firepit
• Basic beverage tray: tea, coffee, sugar sachets, salt, pepper
• Toilet and kitchen paper
• Dishwashing liquid and sponge
• Starter crate of wood — once depleted, please use your own supply
• Bathroom amenities for in-cabin use only (please don’t remove)
Do I need a 4x4 to access the cabins?
Yes, access requires a high-clearance 4x4 or a 2x4 with diff-lock or all-wheel drive.
Can transfers be arranged if I don't have a 4x4?
Yes, 4x4 transfers can be arranged from a designated parking area at set times in line with our check-in and check-out hours. Prior booking is required and an additional fee applies.
Important to note:
• You can safely park your vehicle at the designated meeting point for the duration of your stay.
• This is not a car rental or shuttle service — a driver will collect you and your luggage on check-in day and return you on check-out day.
• If you'd like to leave the farm during your stay, each additional transfer must be pre-booked and paid in advance.
• We recommend planning any off-site activities for before check-in or on your check-out day. A popular option is ending your stay with a spa treatment and lunch at Walkersons Hotel on the neighbouring farm.
Do you provide helicopter trips or charters?
No, we do not provide helicopter trips or charters. However, Eagle View Cabin 1 features a private helipad for private or charter flights arranged by guests themselves. Use is at your own risk.
How many people do the cabins sleep?
Each cabin is ideally designed for 2 guests. The layout is open-plan, studio-style — all in one beautifully designed space.
Are kids allowed?
The Eagle View Cabins are best suited for couples, but one additional child may be accommodated on the couch by special request and at your own risk.
Safety considerations:
• Open, unfenced wood-fired hot tub in front of the cabin
• Rocky terrain surrounding the cabin
• Deck is not enclosed with balustrades
Please supervise children at all times — guests are responsible for any damages or injuries.
Do all the cabins have a private hot tub?
Yes, every cabin features its own KolKol wood-fired hot tub, privately positioned for your exclusive use.
Do the cabins have fireplaces?
Only Cabins 3, 4 and 5 have indoor fireplaces. However, all cabins are equipped with gas heaters and electric blankets on the beds to keep you cosy during chilly nights.
Will there be enough power during my stay?
Absolutely. Each cabin is powered by its own solar system and battery, which is more than sufficient for a short stay. The oven, hob, and geyser all run on gas.
Important to note:
• A low-watt hairdryer is provided for your convenience. Please do not use any other hairdryer, styling tools, or high-draw appliances, as these will quickly drain the battery and leave you without power until the system recharges.
With mindful use, you’ll have all the power you need.
Do you have an iron in the cabin?
No. Irons are not provided and using one will deplete the power supply and leave you without power. Please do not bring your own iron.
Do you have a microwave in the cabin?
Cabins 3, 4 and 5 have small microwaves for light, sparing use.
Is there Wi-Fi or cell phone signal?
Yes, each cabin has both Wi-Fi and cell signal. While the Wi-Fi is not fibre, it is uncapped and reliable for basic work and communication. Cell phone reception is generally good across all major networks.
Do you have a TV?
No. The cabins are intentionally TV-free — it's the perfect setting to untangle from life’s distractions and embrace the beauty of nature.
Are you pet friendly?
Unfortunately, not. Please leave your furry friends at home.
Is the tap water safe to drink?
The water is sourced from a natural spring on the farm. While many guests enjoy it without issue, please note that the water is not laboratory-tested. If you prefer, we recommend bringing your own bottled drinking water for peace of mind.
Is housekeeping included?
No. Housekeeping is not included but can be pre-arranged on special request at an additional charge, subject to availability.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Self-check-in is between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Arriving before sunset is requested and strongly advised, as navigating the mountain road after dark can be challenging and stressful. Check-out is any time before 10:00 AM.
What activities are available on the farm?
• Explore the natural mountain surroundings – there are no marked hiking trails. Please avoid paths leading to other cabins and respect guests' privacy.
• Spot free-roaming wildlife such as duiker, oribi, red hartebeest, waterbuck, mountain reedbuck and blesbok, as well as birds, reptiles and mountain “creepy-crawlies”.
• There are no fishing dams on the farm – Dullstroom has excellent fly-fishing.
• The nearest restaurant is Walkersons Hotel on the neighbouring estate (booking required).
• Please explore at your own risk.
